Underlay materials
Underlayment for silent Laminate Flooring
When laying a floor it is essential to use the right type of underlay. Varying requirements for thermal insulation and the reduction of impact noice and walking noise mean that care must be taken to select an appropriate underlay.
When you buay a Krono Original underlay, you are choosing a mulitpurpose, high performance parquet and laminate underlay. Krono Original underlays have been optimised through a process of extensive tests and and laboratory experiments to ensure high level, long term insulation against impact noise and walking noise. These highly durable underlays exhibit superb performance values when tested in real life situations.
All Krono Original® underlay materials are CFC free and can be disposed of along with normal household waste. They can be recycled, do not pollute watercourses and do not pose any toxicological problems. The basic material is compatible with bitumen, PVC, linoleum, oil, cement, articicial and natural resins and magnesium.
PuR 2.0 Underlay
This professional acoustic mat consists of PuR/mineral compounds. Superb walking noise reduction (18%) and minimal thermal resistance and integrated moisture protection. Density: 700 kg/m³, thickness: 2,0 mm |

Wood 5.5 Underlay
This insulation panel is made from wood fibres and is especially suitable for thermal insulation e.g. for rooms below ground level (cellars), but is unsuitable for rooms with underfloor heating. Because of its high wood content, a PE foil must be laid underneath it for moisture protection. 15 panels/packet = 7m² |

XPS 4.0 Alu UnderlayOur PS parquet underlay is ideal for laying on mineral surfaces. It smoothes uneven patches and offers a high level of thermal insulation. For this reason it is not suitable for laying on floors with underlfoor heating. Aluminium lamination offers protection from residual damp from the floor finish. 15 panels/packet, Dimension: 0.59x0.79 m x 15 = 7m2
Reflected sound reduction: 20 dB |

PE 2.0 / 4.0 UnderlayThe 2 or 4 mm thick PE foam is the most cost effective option. It has medium impact noise insulation and thermal insulation properties. The disadvantage is its low density and corresponding compression resistance. Because it is so thin, the 2 mm foam underlay is ideal for use in renovation projects. A variety of roll lengths are available.
Transmitted sound reduction: ca. 16 dB |

PE-foil Underlay
PE sheet must be used as a damp barrier especially when laying flooring on new subsurfaces (residual damp) and where there are large temperature differences with the room below. It prevents rising damp from damaging the laminate flooring. Available in different thicknesses and roll lengths. |

Please ensure that the sub flooring has been properly prepared before laying underlay. For laying flooring in rooms with underfloor heating, we strongly recommend that you use our PE steam brake. If being stored for longer periods, the parquet underlay must be kept in cool, dry conditions and protected from UV radiation. If using sensitive electronic appliances (Computers ..) we strongly recoomend that you use an antistatic underlay.
